Plot summary
The story is a retro 1960s prequel to Bloodsucker's Handbook, also known as Enchiridion, and follows the spaceship Argosy. A distress call from the industrial planet Mara brings the crew to a world ruled by the sinister Mother Vampire. Disease-carrying Mara bats and a talking space roach are among the encounters they face. Adrianna, a gynoid aboard the ship, is developing self-awareness, and her collection of vintage romance comics aids that growth.
