Plot summary
Joe drives a truck and cannot put aside the memory of his wife and child, both gone. Stopping at a truck stop in Alabama, he walks in on a man choking Julie and pulls him off her. Julie explains that she asked for it: as a child she nearly drowned, left her body, and found her way into the spirit world. Her daughter Billie lies in a coma after a motorcycle accident, and Julie was hunting through that realm for the girl's spirit to bring it home. Joe, who has lost his own family, takes her to the hospital. When Billie's heart stops, Julie tells Joe to choke her so she can cross over again and lead the girl back.
