Plot summary
Dominic Roy is seventeen, headstrong and hardworking, and he spends the harvest break on a potato farm in Van Buren, Maine, saving the money he needs to leave his struggling hometown. Casper Cote, his best friend, is reckless, and the two have long dreamed of leaving for Boston together. The town offers them few chances, and both of them need cash to go. Dominic keeps to the fields, while Casper works with Clayton, his father, who is outside the law and moves prescription drugs between Canada and Maine. Casper's runs with Clayton put the friendship, and the plan the two share, under pressure.
