Plot summary
Sam and his wife Liz are traveling to a birthday dinner for their father, and they have brought along Sam's brother Nick, a musician, and Nick's girlfriend Christine. The four ride in a minivan. A shortcut down a back road leaves them with a flat tire, and no cellphone signal reaches the spot where they stop, so they must change the tire themselves. Sam uses the delay to criticize Nick's career and his involvement with Christine. A grizzly wanders toward the group. Nick wants everyone to move away without provoking it, but Sam takes out a handgun and shoots the animal dead. A bigger male bear appears and charges in revenge. The four take cover inside the minivan, and the bear rolls it over.
