Plot summary
David brings Meg, his fiancée, to his parents' New York apartment for a Friday night Shabbos dinner, the first time the two families will sit down together. Meg grew up Catholic in Milwaukee and is converting, and Ellen, David's mother, considers her a poor match and treats her coolly. Richard, David's father, holds to tradition, as does Ellen. Adam, David's younger brother, lives at home without work and talks of joining the IDF, while Abby, David's sister, arrives with Benjamin, her boyfriend, whom the family dislikes. Meg's parents text that traffic is delaying them. Before they reach the apartment, a guest is found dead in the bathroom, and the family chooses to keep it from everyone.
