Plot summary
Dan Landsman has never been the cool guy, and the reunion he is helping to run gives him a chance to change that. He heads the committee, and what he wants is the most popular member of his graduating class, Oliver Lawless, back for the reunion evening. Lawless now appears in a national Banana Boat advertising campaign, and he lives in Los Angeles. Dan travels from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles to make the invitation in person. He tells lies to bring Lawless around and keeps adding to them as he goes. Lawless is unpredictable, and he proceeds to take over Dan's home, his career and his life.
