Plot summary
In 2271, two linked stories cover 72 hours. Colonel Elizabeth Lochley summons Father Cassidy to Babylon 5 to examine maintenance worker Simon Burke, who has returned from Earth behaving strangely and speaks of fallen angels. Father Cassidy debates performing an exorcism or calling more clergy. Meanwhile, President John Sheridan travels to Babylon 5 for the Interstellar Alliance's tenth anniversary. His ship picks up Centauri prince Dius Vintari, third in line to the throne. Galen warns Sheridan that Vintari will destroy Earth in thirty years and proposes killing him in a staged weapons malfunction.

- For the CGI, Atmosphere Visual Effects used fan-created 3D models because the original Babylon 5 art assets, archived at Warner Bros with no back ups allowed, were lost.
- J. Michael Straczynski declined Warner Bros.' offer to make a Babylon 5 feature film after the deaths of Andreas Katsulas and Richard Biggs, proposing instead character-focused short films in an anthology format.
- Future installments were put on hold by the 2007 WGA strike; Warner Bros. had refused Straczynski's request to speed up commissioning a new DVD because it believed there would be no strike.
- On July 13, 2008, Straczynski said he had no plans to continue The Lost Tales, refusing a similarly low-budget sequel because he did not want to dilute Babylon 5's legacy with sub-par stories.
- Peter Jurasik said Straczynski contacted him to reprise his role as Londo Mollari for alien-centric stories after the initial batch centered on humans, and he agreed if Straczynski wrote it.
- The story featuring Michael Garibaldi was delayed to a planned second DVD because it was the most ambitious in special effects and sets, and the other two stories were expanded in length.
- Six "promosodes" featuring Lennier and other characters were written, but producer Samm Barnes said they could not be pulled together for the disc.
