Bruce Ramsay
Biography
Bruce Ramsay is a Canadian actor who works in film, television and theater, and whose screen debut came opposite Elias Koteas in Malarek (1988). The two appeared together again in Hit Me (1996) and Collateral Damage (2002). Ramsay's first leading role in a major motion picture was Carlitos Páez in Frank Marshall's Alive (1993), a survival drama drawn from the story of a Uruguayan rugby team whose plane went down in the Andes. He played the house boy Carlucci in Steven Soderbergh's Behind the Candelabra (2013), his second time working with that director. In 1995 he acted in The Professional Man, part of the Showtime noir series Fallen Angels. Ramsay's directorial debut was Hamlet (2011), which he also produced, adapted and headlined; it had its premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival, where it screened in competition.

Ramsay's first time directing came in 2011 with Hamlet, a film he also produced, adapted and headlined as Hamlet. That same year the movie had its premiere in competition at the Vancouver International Film Festival.

Ramsay wrote, created, produced and starred in The Porter, a 2022 series on CBC and BET. It follows the railway sleeping car porters who started the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, North America's first Black labor union.
Big break
Ramsay got his first lead in a major motion picture as Carlitos Páez in Frank Marshall's 1993 film Alive, a biographical survival drama based on a book about a Uruguayan rugby team's crash in the Andes.
