Plot summary

Since the Hundred Year War, Aang, the world's last Airbender, has helped rebuild the world, and Republic City is meant to be a home where all nations can live. While he returns artifacts to the deserted Southern Air Temple, a band of non-bending outlaws called the Denied attacks him and flees with a map from a relic connected to Sonam. Aang goes to Republic City to warn Katara, his girlfriend and a Council Representative. When he asks his past lives about the threat, Avatar Xian tells him that Sonam was an Avatar the world had forgotten, and that her staff held the power of the Spirit World. Believing the Denied want that staff, Aang leaves Katara behind to gather Sokka, Toph and Fire Lord Zuko and lead them to the mountain where the staff was last seen.
