Plot summary
Tom Sterling is the chief executive of Landshark, the Internet company he started with his brother Josh, who built its technology. Landshark has gone public, but neither brother can sell his shares yet. It is August 2001, a month before the September 11 attacks, and the price keeps sliding while the company's cash runs low and its main client stalls. Tom needs money to keep up appearances. Investors will help, but their terms would cost him much of his stake and his hold on the company, so he also asks Josh for a loan. Sarrah, a woman from his past, is back in the city.
