Plot summary
T.J. Burke tires of his job on a Detroit auto assembly line and quits, then persuades his friend Dexter Rutecki to head to Aspen, Colorado with him. Both men pass the tryouts for the Aspen Ski School, where T.J. quietly speaks up for Dexter, and T.J. becomes the most popular instructor at the school that season. The pair meet Robin Hand, a young local radio DJ, and Bryce Kellogg, a wealthy woman who each year picks out the most desirable new instructor. Bryce encourages T.J.'s writing ambition and invites him to stay at her house. Once they have watched the Aspen Powder 8 competition, T.J. and Dexter agree to train together for the following year's contest.

- Writer-director Patrick Hasburgh based Aspen Extreme on his own years as a ski instructor in Aspen, Colorado, where one of his pupils was Walt Disney Pictures chairman Michael Eisner, who later agreed to distribute the film through Buena Vista.
