Plot summary
The film draws on home movie footage its maker shot across three decades, assembled into twelve chapters without regard for chronological order and put together as chance had it. The camera stays on ordinary occasions: weddings and gatherings, birthdays, picnics, and the first steps of children. A narrator speaks throughout, describing what appears on screen and what it means to him. The footage is meant to reconstruct a life from the home movies that were shot while that life was going on.
