Plot summary
Traveling to see her mother, Ruth, and her father, Barry, novelist Elly Conway is ambushed and saved by Aidan Wilde, a spy who tells her that a covert organization, the Division, has targeted her. Elly is an introverted writer who has nearly finished her fifth book about Aubrey Argylle, and the Division believes her plots predict its operations. Aidan, allergic to her cat, Alfie, accompanies her to England, where he hopes the chapter she has yet to write will show a way to stop the Division. In London the two search for a Masterkey that her novels mention, which could expose the Division.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Argylle (2024)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Argylle's marketing sold Elly Conway, the name of the film's lead character, as the real author of the novel behind the script, but The Hollywood Reporter could not verify that she existed and could not reach her, her publicist or her agent.
- Social media users suspected Taylor Swift had written the Argylle novel as Elly Conway, partly because Conway and Swift both own Scottish Fold cats; Matthew Vaughn denied it, yet Swift's cat did shape the film's use of one.
- In August 2021 Apple TV+ bought the rights to Argylle for $200 million, a figure some industry journals reported as the production budget, while The Hollywood Reporter said sources put the cost as high as $250 million.
