Plot summary
Stephanie and Ellie are backpacking through South America, and on their last day in Argentina they take a room at a small hotel. A night of drinking at a local bar brings them into contact with some of the local men, and they miss the bus that would have carried them onward. It runs only once a day, so they walk down to a nearby river to pass the extra time. A heated argument separates them, and Ellie is kidnapped. Stephanie searches for her friend, and Michael, an American who says his girlfriend went missing months earlier, joins her. The town's only police officer offers his help as well.
