Plot summary
Deep in a mine near the Mexican town of Santa Bonita, Vargas Diaz comes upon a hidden Aztec temple. He lures the townspeople inside, blows the entrance shut to keep them trapped, and eternal life is granted to him in return for the sacrifice. More than a century later, a college couple on vacation in Mexico arrives at Santa Bonita and finds the town empty of people. During the Day of the Dead, the town offers a human sacrifice at its church to appease the spirits of its original inhabitants, and the couple stumbles into what looks like a funeral procession.
