All Joking Aside (2020) on Netflix

Plot summary

Charlie Murray, twenty-one, works at a New York greengrocer and wants to perform stand-up. Comedy tied her to her father, who had died of a heart attack some years before, and she blames her mother in part for that death; the two are estranged. She is also recovering from a skin cancer scare. On her first try at an open mic, a heckler drowns her out and she cannot answer him. Dennis, who runs the club, tells her the heckler is Bob Carpenter, once one of the edgier comics in town, who left performing but still hangs around the stand-up world. Charlie keeps running into Bob, and she asks him to teach her the craft.
