Plot summary
Lucas is an introverted eleven-year-old. His father Frank is a policeman, and his mother Miriam is blind. Most of his time goes to a school for the blind, where Miriam teaches knitting. He has a habit of spying on others. Several blind women have been attacked recently, and the community is on edge. He overhears his parents whispering about an eye operation he needs.
