Plot summary
Danny works as a salesman in the restaurant supply business, and his friend Bernie, a ladies' man, brings him along on a double date. Bernie's companion is Joan, and Danny is introduced to her friend Debbie. Danny still carries a torch for his ex-girlfriend Alison, but he and Debbie begin seeing each other. Their romance is steadier, while Bernie and Joan needle each other constantly. Months later, Danny and Debbie decide to share an apartment. Bernie teases Danny about the arrangement, telling him that Debbie has taken charge of his life. Danny and Debbie quarrel more often, much of it about whether he is committed to her.
