Plot summary
Kathy Hartman is a new mother with a baby boy and a clever, handsome husband, going back to a glamorous, high-powered job after maternity leave. From the outside she looks like a woman whose life has worked out exactly as she planned. Hannah, who works at the same place, is not fooled. She has seen the cracks in Kathy's marriage and the self-doubt underneath, and she knows how much Kathy fears failing at work. Hannah sits close enough to reach much of Kathy's life, in the office and at home. Taking it apart piece by piece is what she has in mind.
