Plot summary
Rosario Russo runs a hotel and restaurant near Wiesbaden, Germany, and is known there as a skilled cook. Renate, his wife, and Mathias, their young son, live with him and know little of the past he left behind in Naples. Fifteen years ago he was Antonio de Martino, a man who had killed thirty-two people and gained power, and who feared that too many people wanted him dead. He vanished one August morning, and everyone believed him dead. Then Diego and Edoardo, two Italians, come to the hotel and ask for lodging for a few days. They intend to assassinate the manager of a waste incineration plant.
