Plot summary
Manuel Rodríguez Sánchez, known to the public as Manolete, is a celebrated bullfighter in Spain. The story opens with his journey from Sevilla to Linares, broken at Córdoba so that he can visit his mother, and the road carries him back over passages of his life. Among those passages is the actress Lupe Sino, with whom he is in love in the early 1940s. She is a woman of communist politics, and the affair becomes a scandal.
