The Sea Inside (2004) on Netflix

Plot summary

A former ship mechanic and part-time poet, Ramón Sampedro has argued for decades that he should be allowed to end his life; a diving accident left him quadriplegic. Because Spanish law would treat anyone who helped him as a criminal, he cannot act by himself. His friend Gené, who works for an organization that defends the right to die, puts him in touch with Julia, the lawyer handling his case, who has a degenerative illness of her own. Rosa, a local woman who came across his story, visits him to persuade him that life is worth living. Ramón's sister-in-law Manuela cares for him, and his nephew Javier supports his cause, while his older brother José objects to it.
