Plot summary
Edward Shaw is an architect and builder in Los Angeles who is facing hard times. Doris Hillman comes to him with a business proposition: the two of them buy a piece of land together, she builds houses on it and sells them, and her husband, the businessman Gus Hillman, provides $500,000 for the venture. Doris worked as a real estate broker, and the plan relies on that experience. Doris shows an interest in him that goes past business, and he starts an affair with her and agrees to the proposal. Her younger sister Madge also takes a romantic interest in him.
