Plot summary
Jessica Morgan is about to become chief executive of her grandfather Harold Morgan's real estate company. Before the job begins, she slips away to Glenbrooke, Colorado, the town where her parents met, renting her mother's old cottage and borrowing her driver's RV. She introduces herself as Jessica Emerson to keep a low profile. On her first day she nearly hits fire chief Kyle Buchanan with the vehicle, ruining the boxes of cookies he is carrying. A fire in her wood stove brings Kyle and his rookie, Ruthie, to the cottage. Kyle is trying to repair the church bell, whose motor the town cannot afford to fix, and the bell matters to Jessica because of her parents. Kyle has said he distrusts wealthy people, and Jessica has not told him who she is.
