Plot summary
An aspiring writer has come to the coastal town of Taormina, in Sicily, looking for inspiration. A folk singer is in the same town at work on a follow-up to her breakout hit, and the two Americans fall into conversation. Talking turns into collaboration, and then into a plan: a villa in the Sicilian countryside, and a weeklong writer's retreat. There, among the local culture, the writer and the singer push each other to put their thorniest secrets into words, one in poems and the other in songs. The work of the week draws the two of them closer as the days pass.
