Plot summary

Grace Davis is an R&B singer who has not released new material in a decade, though she still tours. Maggie Sherwoode, her longtime personal assistant, remixes Grace's songs on her own time and wants to be a music producer. Grace's manager, Jack Robertson, thinks her time has passed and pushes a Las Vegas residency and live albums over new recordings. At a grocery store Maggie meets David Cliff, an aspiring musician, and watches him sing. She tells him she is a producer and offers to work on his album.
