Plot summary
Sophie Brown, a bestselling American author, comes to Scotland to get away from the anger her latest book stirred up. In the village of Dunbar, where her father came from, the locals welcome her. A man shows her the castle called Dun Dunbar, where her grandfather once worked as a groundskeeper, and then orders her out of a room he had told her was private. The knitting club at her bed and breakfast takes her in as a member. When she learns the castle is up for sale, she meets its owner, Myles Dunbar, the same man, a duke who declines to sell to a foreigner. Told he has no choice, he proposes a ninety-day escrow, a non-refundable deposit, and the two of them living there at the same time for those three months.
