Plot summary
Baptiste, César and Claire have known one another since childhood, and all three are having a hard time. Baptiste's wife has left him, and he sinks into depression and then into obsessive-compulsive behavior. César is involved with the daughter of his employer, and he is uneasy about seeing her in case her father learns of it; if he breaks it off, she says she will tell the man everything, and his job is at risk either way. Claire, adopted as an infant, cannot decide whether to look for the woman who gave birth to her. The three lean on each other and their bond shapes each of their lives, but it also stands in the way of their forming other relationships.
