Plot summary
Paulette is a widow who lives alone in a housing project outside Paris, and her pension is too small to live on. Her television and most of her furniture are taken from her, and the phone line is cut because the bills are unpaid. She and her late husband once had a brasserie, and she still cooks and bakes well. When she hears that selling cannabis brings in money, she looks for Vito, a criminal known locally, and asks him to give her work. He puts her to selling his cannabis, and her instinct for trade and her kitchen skills shape how she does it.
