Plot summary

After their first year at Mountain College, Zed and Addison have spent their time on football and cheerleading and little of it together. They head off with Eliza and Willa to separate summer camps, Zed hoping for first string and Addison for cheer captain. An energy surge shuts down Zed's Z-band and sends the car off the road, leaving the four of them lost. Zed finds the Daywalkers, who follow Commander Bright; Addison finds the Vampires, who follow the Vampire Eldress. The two clans argue over Blood Fruit, a source of food and energy that is running low.
