Plot summary
Five thousand years ago, the Pharaoh Atem imprisoned the sorcerer Anubis for trying to destroy the world through the Shadow Games. Archaeologists uncover his tomb and the Pyramid of Light, and when Yugi Muto puts the Millennium Puzzle together, the relic releases the sorcerer. Monsters spill from the puzzle until the pharaoh's spirit, Yami Yugi, banishes them to the shadow realm. Three years on, the Battle City Finals have ended and Yugi is famous for beating his rival Seto Kaiba and holding the Egyptian God Cards. Kaiba turns to Maximillion Pegasus, who offers cards able to defeat the God Cards if Kaiba can beat him in a duel.
