Biography

Sebastian Arcelus is an American actor who built his career largely on the Broadway stage. Born in New York City and raised in Port Washington, New York, he began acting in the early 2000s, taking small theater roles and voicing characters for English-language dubs of animated shows such as Winx Club and several Yu-Gi-Oh! series. His first Broadway part came in 2002, when he joined Rent as a swing and later played Roger. He played Fiyero in Wicked and took on Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys, and he originated the part of Buddy in Elf. On screen he played Lucas Goodwin in House of Cards and Jay Whitman in Madam Secretary, and his films include The Best of Me (2014) and Split (2017). With the collective The Grundleshotz, he helped write the musical Gettin' the Band Back Together, and he returned to Broadway for a 2022 revival of Into the Woods.
