Plot summary

On one Tuesday night, four couples and a threesome each have a single sexual encounter, told in chapters that run from the prelude through foreplay, sex, an interlude, orgasm and the afterglow. Matt and Kris, lifelong platonic friends, decide that sex between them can be meaningless. Abby and Andrew have been together for years, and on his birthday they try to break out of their rut. Mia and Eric, exes who have recently reconnected, share dinner and fall into bed without settling what either feels. Jamie, a new employee, goes on a first date with Ken, whose reputation among the women they work with hangs over the night. Gord and Inez, who have a healthy sex life, invite Gord's roommate Dave to join them, though the two men are hardly compatible as roommates.

Cast

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about YPF (2007)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Three weeks before Young People Fucking was due to start filming, its distribution deal collapsed when ThinkFilm was sold to American investors; producer Steve Hoban scrambled and landed Montreal's Christal Films purely on the strength of the script, with no cast, director or script changes required.
  • During its own shoot, the crew referred to the film only as "Young People" because the location manager doubted he could get filming permissions approved under its full, profane title.
  • When distributor Maple Pictures invited Canadian politicians to a special Ottawa screening, Conservative MPs stayed away, and a Conservative aide, Victoria van Eyk, was fired after she ordered tickets for herself.
  • The production spent $160,000 just to clear music rights, since the explicit title made rights-holders reluctant to let their songs be associated with the film.
  • Kristin Booth's Genie Award for best supporting actress was called a "vindication" for the film by a National Post columnist, given it arrived in the middle of the politically charged Bill C-10 controversy.
