Plot summary
Ezra Cohen works as a finance broker and hosts a pop culture podcast. He mistakes Amira Mohammed for his Uber driver when she parks outside his building, and the awkward encounter leads to lunch and then to a relationship. He is Jewish; she is a stylist whose parents are devoted members of the Nation of Islam. They move in together, and her father Akbar would rather she dated someone from the Nation. Six months in, Ezra brings Amira to meet his wealthy, progressive parents, Shelley and Arnold, who praise their own open-mindedness while embarrassing him. Ezra tells his mother he intends to propose, and his friend and co-host Mo urges him to meet Amira's parents first.
