Plot summary
New York heiress Dee Dee Dillwood has already broken six engagements, and her uncle Ralph Tutwiler and her psychologist Dr. Blucher press her to marry Henry Benson. At the Hampshire Hotel for their honeymoon, Dee Dee panics and tells Henry the marriage is a mistake. Henry says he will not be humiliated, and she runs from the room in her dressing gown into the neighboring suite, where Marvin Payne is staying. Marvin is a veteran building an air-freight business with two old planes. Dee Dee gives her name as Dottie Blucher, and he takes her for a country girl without money. He lets her sleep there, and in the morning his partner Bullets Baker finds her asleep from a pill.
