Plot summary

Eric works as a land surveyor, and his latest assignment takes him to a forest in Dublin. His employer gives him no clear reason for the survey, but Eric accepts it anyway, partly because it puts distance between him and his family. The job also means days alone with Olivia, his student assistant, since the two are carrying on an extramarital affair, and the remote posting keeps them almost entirely cut off from everyone else. Something moves among the trees and catches his eye. Equipment begins to fail, odd occurrences follow, and his mind starts to unravel.
