Plot summary
Melanie Welch works in advertising and takes Christmas seriously. Donovan Goodwin, her colleague at the same agency, does not. The two are teamed on a Christmas commercial for a new cell phone. Donovan favors a sleek design for the spot; Melanie argues that his version leaves out the holiday spirit the client expects. Around the same time, the office holds its annual Secret Santa gift exchange, and Melanie draws Donovan's name. She keeps her identity hidden and writes to him as Santa, asking questions to work out a present he would actually want. He replies without knowing who is behind the messages.
