Plot summary
Reed Rodney is a disillusioned, world-famous novelist. His jaw was wired shut after an accident, leaving him unable to speak, and he is recovering from major reconstructive surgery at a remote house in the mountains. He is struggling to work on a new book. His estranged daughter, Emmy, arrives for an unexpected visit, and the reunion turns into an argument: Emmy tells Reed that his affairs and a violent assault on her mother led to the divorce. When a secret that threatens both their lives comes to light, the two of them have to weigh what they are prepared to do to survive.
