Plot summary
Shel Grandy is a party planner in Maine, and his brother Ben has hired him to organize Ben's wedding to Maggie Welling, the governor's daughter. The brothers work well together at first, and then politics enters the planning. Maggie's father, Governor Conrad Welling, gives a public speech against gay marriage that his constituents seem to approve of. Shel is gay, and he objects both to the governor's stance and to the fact that he can plan a wedding he has no right to have himself. He walks off the job and goes on strike for equal rights, and the wedding preparations stop.
