Plot summary
Half-brothers Jack and Max drive a van through Los Angeles, arguing about Jasmine, Jack's ex-girlfriend, who wants him to collect his belongings from her place. At a mansion they put on masks and pull pistols, then seize Emma, who resists. While they overpower her, Max fires at a neighbor who comes to look, which angers Jack, who wants no violence. Emma wakes to find a third man, Shane, with his mask off, and when Shane says Max's real name the men take off their masks, deciding their cover is blown. The men make Emma record a ransom message for her father, a wealthy man. She says she has not spoken to him in years and calls them amateurs, warning he probably will not pay. With her father on the phone, Jack threatens to kill her unless he does.

- At first the film was just going to be about Bryan Bockbrader and his friends in the California desert; that changed when Danny Trejo joined the cast, and Bockbrader said Trejo's casting inspired him to work harder to finance it and to abandon a plan to shoot found footage in favour of more expensive cameras.
- Bryan Bockbrader moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and began a career in commercials, and after his father died suddenly he chose to follow his dreams and make a film.
- Adam Guthrie said the van used for the shooting was so large that when it broke down, the first tow truck they called was unable to tow it.
