Plot summary
Clover travels with her ex-boyfriend Max, her friend Nina, Nina's boyfriend Abe and Max's stepsister Megan to the remote valley where her sister Melanie disappeared a year earlier. At a gas station where Melanie had sent a message, the attendant Hill says that people often vanish in the area around Glore Valley. Rain forces the group to take shelter in a visitor center. Abe comes across a wall covered with posters of missing people, Melanie among them, and Nina adds her name to the guestbook. Downstairs they find a second house beneath the building. A masked attacker hunts them and kills them one after another, and then they wake at the beginning of the same evening.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Until Dawn (2025)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Peter Stormare played Dr. Alan J. Hill again, the same character he had voiced in the video game.
- The film's first trailer drew criticism from Forbes and The Gamer, who called the adaptation redundant and accused it of disrespecting the source material.
- Writer Blair Butler said the film avoided remaking the game's storyline beat for beat partly because a remaster was coming out around the same time.
- Director David F. Sandberg said the game is essentially a 10-hour movie, so adapting it directly would have been a cut-down, non-interactive version.
