Plot summary
Tom Trimble works for NASA. When his spacecraft outruns the speed of light, it carries him and Hermes, the android built to look like him, back to King Arthur's Camelot in the year 508 AD. The trip is not planned, and the king's court is a medieval world of knights where Tom's twentieth-century equipment and habits stand out. Tom makes a friend of Alisande. Sir Mordred and the sorcerer Merlin, who want King Arthur off his throne, become his enemies instead. Tom sets out to use the technology he brought with him against whatever the two of them are planning, with Hermes at his side.
