Plot summary
Matias O'Brien calls his girlfriend Amaya DeSoto to show her Papaya, the program he is writing that turns speech into sign language videos, and she says she would rather he learn sign language himself. The call drops, and Matias joins Damon Horton, AJ Williams, Lexx Putri, Serena Lange and Nari Jemisin for a webcam game night, each of them in a different location. Serena and Nari announce their engagement, and Serena's mother is in the hospital with cancer. The laptop Matias took from the café's lost and found keeps failing, so Damon suggests scanning the drive. The scan turns up an archive of videos from hacked webcams and surveillance cameras sorted by address, and messages sent to an account registered to Norah C. IV that Matias dismisses.

- Stephen Susco, the writer of The Grudge and Texas Chainsaw 3D who took over as writer and director, shot Unfriended: Dark Web in secret over a single week in late 2016, under the working title Unfriended: Game Night.
- The film was sent to theaters with two different endings that played at random, as 1985's Clue had done; director Stephen Susco said there was only one ending and the rumor came from re-editing after test screenings, but projectionists confirmed they were given two copies and told to wait for instructions.
