Plot summary
In a Hong Kong hospital in 1965, Mr and Mrs Ma dote on their newborn identical twin boys when Crazy Kung, a gang leader held there as a captive, breaks loose and grabs one of the babies. The confusion leaves the twins separated for good. One, Ma Yau, is taken to America and becomes a concert pianist and conductor. The other, Ma Wan, is raised by Tsui, an alcoholic, and grows into a street racer and martial artist who calls himself Bok Min. Neither knows he has a brother. Twenty-six years on, Bok Min and his friend Tarzan fall in with a dangerous gang while Ma Yau arrives in Hong Kong to conduct a major concert, and Bok Min meets Barbara, the club singer Tarzan has his eye on.

- Jackie Chan was unhappy that Twin Dragons leaned primarily on special effects, saying he had worked with Tsui Hark expecting better ones. Soured by the results, he decided to attempt more effects-based work only in his American productions.
- The 1999 American dubbed release of Twin Dragons cut 16 minutes, removing hospital scenes involving Wong Jing and Lau Kar-leung and a fantasy scene of Maggie Cheung singing.
