Plot summary
The town is a typical English working-class one, and its young people have nothing to do with their time but hang around in gangs. Alan Darcy is a highly motivated man, and he had the same kind of youth himself. He wants to pull the young people away from the street and give them something they can believe in, and boxing is what he offers them. He opens a training facility, and the young people accept it gratefully. Darcy's aim in running the club is to bring the rival gangs together, so that the different groups in the town end up training under one roof.
