Plot summary
At WXBU, the local radio station in 1950s New Orleans, the scriptwriter Pedro Carmichael has just been hired, and he has a reputation for building outrageous storylines out of the lives of people around him. He becomes a mentor to the younger employee Martin Loader. Martin's aunt Julia, not related to him by blood, comes back to the city after years away, and Martin falls in love with her. When Pedro learns of the romance, he folds its details into 'Kings of the Garden District', his daily drama series. Martin and Julia soon hear their fictional selves on the air, and the scripts describe what the fictional couple does next.
