Plot summary

Peter Rake is a celebrity chef with legal troubles and an eleven-year-old daughter, Riley, whose name he has given to his restaurant. While his ex-wife is getting remarried, he drives to his family's isolated estate, where the elderly Agnes keeps house. On the way he runs into Lonnie, a high school classmate who runs a bait shop, and he catches up with his sister Gwen, a district attorney. Peter was not invited to their father's funeral. When the power fails at a bachelorette party across the canyon, Kara comes by for candles, and Peter offers to cook dinner for her and her friends, among them the bride-to-be Marie, Elena, Morgan and Lilith.
