Plot summary
A vast traffic jam closes the highway ring around Rome and strands thousands of drivers. Among the cars are Dr. De Benedetti, Irène, Carlo, Martina, Mario, Marco Montefoschi, Teresa, a professor, Angela, Franco and Ferreri. One stretch of the road holds an entrepreneur in a luxury car; a family from Naples is driving toward Rome. At first the drivers take the delays calmly. As the hours pass, tempers break, personal dramas and hysterical reactions surface inside the cars, and the separate stories begin to link into one. A priest and a man who is dying are also among the passengers.
