Plot summary
Tony Benson has been out of work and on state benefits for more than twenty years. He lives alone in a flat in a tower block on a Dalston council estate, where he collects 1980s action films. Most days he wanders the streets of London trying to connect with other people, though he is severely socially anxious and struggles to express himself. The rare visitors to his flat complain of a rotting smell, which he blames on clogged drains. Men he meets and brings home can end up dead.
