Plot summary
A boat train chartered by the White Star Line takes passengers toward the Titanic. Angelica, who is kept as a servant by her stepmother Gertrude and her stepsisters Bernice and Hortense, hopes to find love and to trace the mother she has lost, and she has only a blue locket to go on. William, an upper-class Englishman, comes aboard with his maid and his secretary, Gaston. Other travelers on the crossing include the singer Molly, the gold-digging Winnie, the failing banker Jeremy McFlannel, the jewel thief Corynthia Meanstreak with her henchmen Kirk and Dirk, and the detective Sam Bradbury, who is on their trail. The cargo hold carries a group of animals bound for the New World, among them mice, geese, a dog called Fritz and a magpie called Hector.
